Foolishness

Confession time.

Paul and I are very nosy tourists.

We just happened to be in the neighborhood of Wasilla, Alaska on Sunday and decided to stop by Sarah Palin's house.

Our reasoning was that she definitely wouldn't be home because she is touring the country. We would drive by, snap a quick photo, and get away unnoticed.

We were wrong.

As we were turning into the private road, a black Dodge Ram was leaving and pulled up beside us. I tried to look very bored and nonchalant.

My acting skills clearly aren't what they used to be.

The passenger in the truck rolled down the window and looked pointedly at Paul. He very sheepishly rolled down the window too. And who was looking back at us?

Bristol Palin.

I know.

Here's how the conversation went:

Bristol: Can I help you?
Paul: Uh, no we were just looking for this road. But we found it now. Thanks though.
Bristol: (very snottily) Why?
Paul: Uh, well. We were hoping to drive by Sarah Palin's house?
Bristol: Oh. Well they moved because people like you kept bothering them.
Paul: Oh okay then. I guess we'll go then.
Me: THAT WAS BRISTOL PALIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Paul: Huh?

And then we very sheepishly turned around and went on our merry way.

It was very awkward.

I don't blame the Palins for being annoyed at nosy people like us.

I was honestly surprised they didn't have a security guard at the gate.

Still, I secretly wanted to shout, "I SHOULD HAVE VOTED FOR OBAMA!"

  1. lol Jonathan was saying that they treat everyone like that (can you blame them haha)...and that the only people they were ever nice to was the missionaries. Obviously didn't let them in but they at least made it to the door :)

  2. I find it interesting that you actually took time out of your day to go see the house of a politician. I thought that was the point behind the title...

  3. Funny. I can't believe that don't have security guard either. But I would NEVER say I would vote for OBAMA, that's like a swear word in our family.

Love your blog, by the way.
