Lily's birthday book: part one

For Lily's birthday, I am sewing her a book that Paul and I will write in each year on her birthday. I know I'll probably crack before she's eighteen and tell her about it, but right now, the plan is to keep it a secret until she goes off to college. There are thirty-six pages, so that Paul and I will each have a small page each year. I've started over on this book twice now, but I'm finally happy with the cover and today I'll be sewing the pages together with the help of my friend Dana.

  1. This is a great idea! I am in your ward, if you don't remember me haha. I am in bookbinding if you ever need help too.

    1. Camilia! I absolutely remember you :-) I think we met at the sugar cookie relief society activity. Thanks for your sweet comment! Book binding is such an incredible art. Unfortunately, I am a perfectionist and I completely incapable of cutting straight lines - especially with fabric. I think this will be the only book that I ever make!

  4. I love the handmade touch to this! My mother-in-law writes letters to all her kids/grandkids on their birthdays, but they're in a binder somewhere. This is so pretty! Lily will love that!
