sprinkle donuts

For my first Mother's Day, I got a donut pan (what are you trying to say, Paul?).

I don't know about you, but when I was a little girl, I always wanted the donut with the sprinkles. Usually only one came per box, and I'm pretty sure the worst grounding I ever got was for punching my little sister over the donut with sprinkles. So of course, now that I'm an adult and can do whatever I want, I made sprinkled donuts. And they're all mine, especially considering that my little sister lives two states away now.

P.S. - be prepared to have nonpareils all over your kitchen floor after baking these.

Sprinkled Donuts:
1 1/2 cups bread flour
3/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/8 tsp salt
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
1/2 c butter milk
1/2 c whole milk
6 Tbs unsalted butter, room temperature
1/2 c granulated sugar
1 egg

1. Preheat oven to 350°, grease donut pan
2. Whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and nutmeg
3. Beat butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg and beat for one minute.
4. Pour buttermilk and whole milk together into a mixing cup.
5. Add half of flour mixture and half of milk mixture. Stir and repeat until all ingredients are in the same bowl.
6. Pour one tablespoon of mixture into each well of donut pan.
7. Bake at 350° for 8 minutes. Let cool in donut pan for five minutes.

Glaze:
1 cup confectioner's sugar
2 Tbs milk
SPRINKLES. THEN SOME MORE SPRINKLES.
